25 Chrysanthema

Inside the home of the Chrysanthemum, squared, adjusted.
Orange blind spots with multiple perspectives.
Because we know what we know.

Art fragments by Z. M.

25 Stories.
25 Art presentations of a painted life.

We make pictures to capture and share fragments of life that we want to remember.

This year, I chose a chrysanthemum dipped in orange paint and a tree in Garmisch whose roots clung to a rock. The color blue is the promise I made, and the color red, perceived by some as erotic and by others as dangerous, symbolizes here: “We are ready and prepared for anything.”

I create iterative art. Nothing stays the same. I change things. I overlap, I paint over, I overact. The “over” is an integral part of my art. Then, when something particularly resonates with me, I take a digital or analog snapshot to present to the viewer.

My media are watercolors on paper, pixels on screens, the lens of a mobile phone, and a printer. I use these media repeatedly in a loop until I’m thrilled with the result.

In my iterations, the changes are as minimal as possible, sometimes almost imperceptible. Everything that impresses and touches me accompanies my art. From abstract and blurry to tangible and comprehensible, a smile or the reason for it, a tear or the cause of it, an idea, a word, a word too few, a word too many, find expression in my art. Lines, colors, letters, as a function over time, take on forms that invite exploration.

What do you think?

Is what I painted what you see?

And if you have any questions, please ask.
